Here is what your neighbors have to say about Fitness Together. To begin your success story click here.

I found Fitness Together to be an amazing program. Working with Laura Jones has been both a rewarding experience and delightful.

When I first found the program I weighed 151 pounds at 5.4”. I felt sluggish and tired, basically uncomfortable in my own skin. After our first physical assessment I learned that of that 151 pounds, 50 pounds of that was body fat and only 101 pounds were of lean muscle mass. I was shocked. I really did not think of myself as someone whom was overweight, but there it was in black and white. After our first workout, I knew I was out of shape. I really struggled but I knew I really wanted to make a change.

We started working out twice a week. Laura suggested a food program and additional cardio workouts. I followed her regimen and although challenging, I was feeling the rewards of my efforts with renewed energy.

Laura’s workouts varied each time. She recorded our workouts and seemed focused and methodical with her efforts to help me get in shape. The workouts I believe are the key to my success in the program. Showing up and working through the session gradually increased my strength and confidence. Showing up twice a week helped to keep me accountable with my food diaries and my cardio workouts. Laura's expectations for my success kept me encouraged and motivated.

Each retest Laura and I did showed consistent results. Each time I would lose fat weight and gain lean weight. I found this to be a very important part of my journey here at Fitness Together. Once I only believe the number on the scale and now I can see that it is not necessarily the number on the scale that reflects your health and progress but your level of fitness which is far more valuable.

My last retest put me at 105 lean muscle mass and only 30 pounds of fat weight. I weighed a trim 135 and I am a slim size 4. I have lost a total of 20 pounds of fat weight. I feel amazingly strong. I am running a 12 minute mile when before, I could not even run one minute. I feel as strong and as healthy as I did in my twenties.

It is a truly wonderful gift that I have given to myself. I am grateful for the opportunity to work out with Laura at Fitness Together.

Sincerely,
Suzanne S.

When I started to exercise and eat healthy, 15 years ago, I did lose weight and I did look better but I was never able to trim myself in ways that I would have wished. I would try different machines and different cardio methods but the results were the same. I assumed that only surgery would correct these areas. I was content with my weight and diet so I continued until I started to put on weight again. I tried to get it off but nothing was happening. Finally, I got to the point that I would have to buy a full size or two bigger in clothing. I had vowed 15 years earlier that I would never do this. I needed help.

I knew I had to work with a trainer but I was taken back by the expense. I told myself that the expense would be my incentive. I came to Fitness Together, with Matt and Laura, in November of 2007. I could not be more pleased with my results. My first retest showed that I had lost 2 inches all over but not a pound. I would have been happy with that but this continued in ways I never thought could happen. I began to drop weight weekly but I had muscle and tone that I had never seen before. The areas of my body I assumed would need surgery were firming. I have to think back on my feelings of the expense and compare that to the expense of surgery. More importantly, the expense of not feeling as healthy and fit as I do now.

Fitness Together and Matt (my trainer) have given me a new outlook on my health and fitness that I will always keep with me. I will continue to train with them. I have found Fitness Together to be one of the best bargains for my life.

Do as they tell you and you will see results.

I find myself sitting, about 2 years after the birth of my second child, trying to write this testimonial into the wee hours of the night. I have just been through another busy day of teaching 2nd grade at a nearby elementary school that demands 100% of my attention on a daily basis, a few precious moments at the gym to give back to myself, preparing dinner for my loving family, finding my way through piles of laundry, and going through the bedtime routine of toddlers. Sleep is one of my best commodities; it’s just becoming more optional these days. This, however, is a very typical day for any working parent. So how is it that I have had time to workout? If there is one thing I have learned in life it is this; life is full of choices. I have the right to choose health. I have the right to choose to keep my body in good condition. I have the right to choose to have more energy to spend time running around and playing peek-a-boo games with my kids. It’s all about choices and choosing to make me a priority in my life is O.K. I matter too!

I never struggled with weight until I entered my profession. More work means less time for play. About 6 years of teaching and a couple of pant sizes later, I became pregnant with our first daughter, Emily. I did very well and gained only the recommended weight. That didn’t matter. A couple of years (and pant sizes, again) I had had our second daughter, Sarah. This time I gained less weight than the recommended weight due to light aerobic workouts. This didn’t matter either! I now found myself at 155 pounds. I was feeling terrible! I had to choose to do something about it. At that time I chose to begin a workout routine, a scary proposition!

For the first few weeks of my workout schedule, I cried for two reasons; one because it just plain hurt and second because I missed my kids. It was awful! Once I got past those first few weeks, it started to become a routine and I was starting to enjoy it. I was losing weight and feeling proud of myself. I even found that I had more energy to spend time, quality time, to hang out with my girls. What a tremendous feeling! My weeks soon turned into months, the weight was continuing to fall off and then suddenly, BAM!!!, I hit a wall. Not any ordinary wall, but the kind that knock you on your butt! Ouch! I wasn’t losing any weight, while I was working harder than ever ( I thought) and eating right. What is going on?

I had been working out successfully by myself now for over a year and didn’t feel like I was the kind of “gym client” who needed a personal trainer, then I met Laura. I was very reluctant to work out with her; I already knew how to do it. Laura worked with me on our first training session and literally, almost did me in. I couldn’t move for a week! Returning back ( with my tail between my legs) the next week I was ready to choose training because I matter too! This was about me! I’m worth it!

I have now been training with Laura for 6 months and I have not only learned excellent work out routines but healthy lifestyle choices as well. She has been a plethora of information and is always willing to research questions I have about health. She has been instrumental in helping me achieve my personal fitness goals. She continues to work with me a helps guide my path along this journey of fitness. I still have work to do and she’s still kicking my back side, but I’m very pleased with her work ethic, her depth of knowledge, and her ability to push me to my absolute limit. I would highly recommend Laura to anyone looking to set, work towards, and reach personal fitness goals. She is an amazing trainer and I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her.
